pregnancy hormone weight loss pill | Choosing Joy Baby Pool

Senin, 18 April 2016

pregnancy hormone weight loss pill

Ive noticed as this pregnancy has progressed that Ive often had to consciously choose joy. And a lot of the things that have brought me joy for this baby and pregnancy have been the "normal" pregnancy things - things like baby showers and maternity photos. Theyre pretty hard to embrace at first and there are those little alarms that go off in the back of my mind. ("Well, what if you end up losing the baby, wont this just make it more painful?" "Why are you celebrating already, nothing to celebrate yet.") But by forcing myself to ignore those nagging thoughts, Ive regained some of the normalcy of pregnancy. Ive been able to celebrate and be the glowing mother-to-be and share in the joy of this baby with my friends. That is a gift.

So, in the spirit of joyfully celebrating our upcoming baby and because Im just about two weeks out from my due date, Im hosting a baby pool where you can guess the babys sex, weight, length, birthday, etc. Click here or on the banner below or on the sidebar to go to the website that fancily will tally up all your scores and come up with a winner.

This pregnancy has been pretty different from Lucias, but in case youd like a frame of reference, she was 8lbs even, 19.75 inches long, and born eight days "late" at 2:53pm.

And because games arent fun without prizes, I will offer the winner her choice of Lilla Rose hair accessories from my business (up to $20) and a baby hat knitted by yours truly in the color of choice. Good luck!

hats I knitted for our baby, currently awaiting their owner

post pregnancy weight loss supplements

As I mentioned before, on Mothers Day weekend we had a crowd of family here to celebrate the arrival of Isaac. It was quite a busy weekend and Jack was coming off of 3 busy weeks of having various family members here. I dont know if it was the sudden onset of spring allergies or the general lack of rest, but Jack came down with a serious cold on Friday. As the afternoon wore on I noticed that he looked more tired than usual and then I realized he also had a fever.

With the onset of the fever we decided that he would have to sleep in our bedroom instead of with his cousins and that we needed to try to implement some degree of quarantine – easier said than done. The best solution we had was to tell Jack he could only touch Isaacs feet and to not get near his face, and to not get too close to his cousins. Washing hands became mandatory as did coughing into his arm. We also tried to get him to rest, but that was an uphill battle.

Jacks fever broke shortly after we administered Tylenol and put him to bed. The mama in me is always a little nervous when my baby(ies) get sick. When I woke around 2am to nurse Isaac, I noticed that Jack had pretty labored breathing. As I finished with Isaac, Jack sat up on his pallet and started wheezing. I immediately woke Daniel up and then checked Jack to make sure he was doing ok. He had a fever again and said that it was hard to breathe.

Daniel and I agreed that we didnt want to mess with breathing issues, so we gave Jack more Tylenol and then Daniel took Jack to the ER. By the time they arrived at the ER, Jacks fever had broke (thank you Tylenol) and the cool night air had helped his breathing. The doctor at the ER told Daniel that Jack basically had a cold. Thanks doc! Needless to say, Daniel and I got very little sleep that night and our house full of people were none the wiser.

The next morning Daniel and I slept in, but Jack was feeling better so he and joined the rest of the family for breakfast. Later that morning when I finally got up, my mom mentioned that they hadnt fed Jack anything. I asked why and she said that Jack was wearing a sticker that said not to feed him.

Then my sister then walked up and mentioned that Jack had told them he had been to the hospital but no one believed him (they thought he was talking about the hospital for Isaacs birth)! I was able to verify the hospital trip and get Jack some breakfast. Who would have guessed that a sticker would cause such confusion?!

"Wasnt sure if my sis was trying to mess with us, or if I should actually believe my nephews sticker he appeared with this morning. Dont feed him....Turns out he went to the hospital in the middle of the night for a bad cough/breathing trouble, but was fine." #youdontseethateveryday

pregnancy weight loss tumblr | Isaac is One Month Old

Sabtu, 02 April 2016

pregnancy weight loss tumblr

Has a month already passed? It feels like little Isaac has always been with us.

We (meaning me and Daniel) are slowly waking from the fog of having a newborn at our house again. Jack has taken the whole new baby thing in stride. He really loves his little brother – though he tells us it hurts his feelings when Isaac cries.

Isaac is our little chubby bunny. At one month he has already gained a whopping 4lbs above his birth weight! His pediatrician wants me to try to stretch out his feedings a bit. Right now he is 10lbs 15oz, 21.5 inches long and has a 40cm head – another big headed boy!

He is a sweet little guy who loves sleeping and eating above anything else. He has a couple of times a day when he is wide awake and he loves to stare into the eyes of whoever is holding him. Alternately he likes to stare out the window at the trees. At one month old he will grasp your finger and hold on tightly if you give it to him.

Isaac rarely cries, though when he does you would think something catastrophic has happened. Instead of crying, he grunts. The grunts are pretty funny, especially when he gets really mad and the grunts turn to snorts.

The first time we attempted tummy time, he was so mad he almost rolled over on the couch. He was only 10 days old! I was kind of shocked that he was able to rock up onto one hip.

Also at 10 days old, Isaacs umbilical cord fell off and Daniel gave him his first bath, with Jack supervising of course.

At 2 weeks old, Isaac was big enough to start using cloth diapers. We cant believe how fast he is growing!

As a second child, things have definitely been different for Isaac. Whereas with Jack we were nervous to go anywhere, with Isaac we just keep living our lives as usual...

At 4 days old Isaac went on his first shopping excursion and dinner date to McAlisters with Mommy and Daddy.

At 5 days old he had his first trip to the park so that his big brother could play.

At one week we took him to church for the first time, and then went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant as a family. At this stage eating out is still easy so we are embracing this while we are able!

Last week we were finally on our own, and other than being generally tired, things went really well. I even managed to get both boys ready and out the door for a 10am preschool party for Jack and then today we made it to the pediatrician by 9:30.

I have surprised myself in that I can get two kids ready and to places relatively on time (though to be fair, I dont always get breakfast, but the boys are both fed!).

*As with Jack, I will be posting monthly updates of Isaac on a quilt (inherited from my Grandma), next to a yellow Tonka truck (a toy from Daniels childhood).

A Look Back: Jack at One Month
(We used a quilt from Daniels family for the Jack photos, along wit the Tonka truck from Daniels childhood).

weight loss with pregnancy hormone drops | Greys Anatomy

weight loss with pregnancy hormone drops

On Thursday February 12, 2015, Greys Anatomy aired "All I Could Do Was Cry."  The story revolved around two lead characters and the prospect of losing their baby mid-pregnancy.  I wish there would have been one of those scrolling red bars at the bottom of my TV screen, you know the ones, they run most of the time during the winter months to warn of hazardous weather.

Anyway, I watched the episode because I love this show and happen to find myself home, without any kid-transporting or errand-running.  To say the show covered a lifetime of emotions is an understatement.

I was first moved when April became aware there was nothing she could do for her son in utero, that he was in pain.  This was the deciding factor for her to move forward to end her pregnancy. I know that moment, as does anyone who is probably reading this blog.

Another poignant moment was when Aprils mother-in-law spoke to her about releasing her baby.  The MIL gave April the strength she needed.  I was blessed to have someone do this for me and it came in the form of my best friends aunt.  She told me she would pray for me and while I cried to her on the telephone, she told me she would be my vitamin, she would be my strength.  I hear her words whenever I have the opportunity to see her.

And while April still is holding out for a miracle, knowing they occur, I remember I wanted one too. Who wouldnt?  I wanted to be the medical mystery, I wanted my miracle.  But in my immediate situation I would not have it.  My induction proceeded and I thought my physician was crazy.  But on TV, April and Jackson (her husband) were able to hold their baby for the few seconds that he lived.  Maybe that was their miracle.

post pregnancy weight loss routine

Last year, as I walked Jack to his first day of preschool, I had a big lump in my throat. It would be our first time apart for any appreciable amount of time during the day. I held back tears as he made this first transition of many that will prepare him for adulthood. My little social boy didnt bat an eye as he marched into his class with new friends and new teachers.

This year was a little different. We barely had time for a photo as I herded my sweet boy out the door and quickly buckled him and his little brother into the car. On the drive to school, we talked about the importance of not having a potty accident at school, and then in a flurry, I dropped him with a new teacher and new friends. I dont even think he stopped to hug me goodbye.

What a difference a year makes.

A month later, we are in less of a hurry. I am learning from my more experienced mom friends and packing lunches the night before, while also making a more concerted effort to not be late every.single.day. Jack is also taking a moment to pause and give me a hug and kiss before he runs off. Each morning at drop off, he also tells me that he will miss me. I love my sweet boy who is growing up too fast!

Here is a little about Jack at the start of Preschool 2015, 3s Class:
(questions asked after one month of school, because Im behind)
My teachers this year are: Mrs. Lisa and Mrs. Melinda.
I am: 3.5 years old.
I am: 40 inches tall and weigh 37 pounds.
My best friends name is: Drew [I would be remiss to not include Audrey, Anya, Sammy and Roan, but he specifically said Drew when I asked]
My favorite thing to play is: Everything
My favorite color is: Every Color
My favorite book is: Madeline
My favorite TV show is: Rescue Bots
My favorite food is: Pizza
When I grow up, I want to be: A Fire Fighter Man
Something I really like: Playing with Drew at school
Something I dont like: Eating Food
My favorite thing about myself is: My Legs
Something I want to do this year: Go to Pumpkin Patch, the Fire House, Preschool and the Beach House.
A Look Back: Start of Preschool 2014, 2s Class

baby losing weight in womb | A lovely gift for a friend after loss giveaway

Senin, 21 Maret 2016

baby losing weight in womb

A few weeks ago, an email popped into my inbox from the Happy Mommy Box that introducing the themed boxes they offer. Happy Mommy Boxes are meant to be encouragement for moms and make especially great gifts for a mom friend who needs a little special surprise to brighten her day. I had seen the boxes before (and obviously signed up for email updates); they were filled with fun little surprises - mugs or bags with encouraging quotes, jewelry or hair ties, etc. In essence, things that are fun to open, pretty to look at, and let you know that the sender wanted to encourage and inspire you in your vocation of motherhood.

So, I opened the email expecting to see more of that. And I did. But I was also shocked, and more that a bit touched, to see that one of the boxes offered was a Grief and Loss Themed Box. Its not often (or maybe ever?) that Ive seen a company geared toward moms that is inclusive of moms who have experienced loss. When searching for pregnancy loss gifts in the past, Ive only seen them sold through companies (mostly small etsy businesses) geared directly toward pregnancy loss. So just the fact that this box even exists sets Happy Mommy Box apart.

The little gifts and cards Ive received after my losses have meant so very much to me. Just knowing that someone is thinking about me and understands the depths of my loss is so helpful to the grieving process. So many times, women feel very alone after a loss. Receiving a carefully picked gift in the mail is such a blessing. But its often hard, especially if you have not experienced loss on your own, to know what to send. The Grief and Loss Themed Box takes the guesswork out of the gift and puts together some very thoughtful items:

"You are my beloved" print. Something lovely to hang in your home to remember that even during the darkest times, you are loved.

"Bind my wandering hear to thee" journal. A place to write down your thoughts and prayers, hopes and fears, anger and sadness.

Psalm 34:18 hand stamped necklace. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." What a perfect scripture passage to remember that the Lord is near.

Elastic headbands. A little something pretty is especially helpful when you dont have the energy to care for yourself and feel worn down spiritually.

I think this box would make the most lovely gift for someone who has recently lost a baby. My only concern is that maybe the "Happy Mommy Box" packaging might be a sting at first, especially if she has no other living children.. But Im sure once she opened it, she wouldnt mind anymore because the gifts inside are not for the "happy mommy" but perfectly curated for the grieving mother.

Each of the items in the box are available for individual purchase if you did not want to send an entire box, and you can also make a customized box from mixing and matching the items available. (Its much cheaper to buy items in a box than individually if youre planning to buy a few items.)

After seeing the Grief and Loss Box, I contacted Happy Mommy Box to see if they would be willing to give away a box to one of my readers. And they said yes! Use the Rafflecopter below to enter. Open to residents of the US and Canada. PLEASE, Im asking that you only enter if either you have lost a baby yourself or, if you win, you plan to have the box sent to a friend who has lost a baby.  Thank you!

baby losing weight during teething | Sometimes Life is Just Strange

baby losing weight during teething

Sometimes life is just strange and I find myself giving my head a whack with the back of my hand.

Alison asked about Solomon.  Alison asks a lot of questions and she is not the type of child who is easily pacified.  I often have to ask her to ask me the question again in a few days, when I have had time to think of and formulate a solid answer for her.

She asked how Solomon died.  How do you explain pPROM to a ten-year old?  Somehow I managed an answer.  She knew that when a baby is in a moms tummy, the baby is swimming in water.  I told her this was special fluid that helps the baby breath, like a fish.  I explained how my water came out.  She asked if this is what it means when the water breaks so I know she understands a little of the mechanics.

I told her usually the water breaks when a mommy is 9 months pregnant and the baby is ready to be born.  But in my case, the water came out at 5 months.  And because the water helped Solomon breath and grow, and the water was gone, he died.

She got it.  She totatly seemed to understand, and went on to resume playing.  Go figure.

after pregnancy weight loss tips hindi

I
Thanks all for the prayers for our baby. I had our follow up ultrasound on Tuesday and babys enlarged kidney has gotten only slightly worse. Everything else looked great. Apparently its very common to have an enlarged kidney show up in an ultrasound (something like 1 in 50 pregnancies, from what Ive read) and usually it turns out to be nothing. Well follow up with a pediatric urologist after the baby is born.

II
Recently, many friends and family members have been commenting about how I must be a few weeks from my due date/due any time now. Ha ha ha. Im only 32 weeks today, so apparently this doesnt just feel like an extremely long pregnancy to me but to everyone else as well. Still two full months to go, most likely.

III
As for what strangers think, I get a pretty even mix of "I cant believe youre that far along already, you look tiny!" and "Oh my, youre huge already! How can you have two more months?" Which I find kind of hilarious, because Ive often gotten those same comments within five minutes of each other so its cant be chalked up to what Im wearing that day. What drastically different perceptions people have of what pregnant women are "supposed" to look like at each stage in pregnancy! For the record, I dont think I look "tiny" (Im short, so thats pretty much impossible in pregnancy - baby can only go out) but I am much smaller than I was with Lucia at this point. And I recently looked at pictures of me at 41 weeks with Lucia and believe me, it can get much, much bigger than this.

You be the judge. This is after Mass last Sunday - 31 weeks.

IV
I loved all the comments and suggestions on my baby name consultation over at Sancta Nomina (and the Facebook post where I shared it). We have two middle names that are front runners (including one Kate suggested) and two others that are wildcards (including one that wasnt mentioned in the consultation but one reader suggested in the comments on the Facebook post!) and I think were just going to wait until the baby is born to decide. If we have a boy, we wont need to worry about it. If we have a girl, it will be fun to save a little bit of the baby naming until the last minute since weve had our boy name chosen before Lucia was even born and our girls name chosen for at least three or so years. I love thinking and talking about baby names so having some kind of dilemma is fun for me.

V
I have a list of things to do before the baby is born. Not much baby related items on it, more of stuff that I figure is easier to do without a newborn to care for. Things like repaint my "sewing table" (its an old vanity), and recover the stool. Finish (and basically start!) Lucias baby book. Im also going to be helping my family go through my grandparents storage unit and hopefully have a garage sale. And I want to finish knitting a blanket for my niece and then knit one for the baby, along with two hats - one pink and one blue - to bring to the birth center. Were waiting to put up the crib and install the car seat, pack the diaper bag, etc. until October, which still seems so far away.

VI
Lucia is such a fun age right now. (For reference, shell be four in December.) Im fairly certain Ive said that about every age and stage so far - and I dont really think I could pick a favorite age - but she says and does such sweet, hilarious, and oddball things that our days together are always interesting. Her favorite thing to do right now is play "mommy and little girl" (or boy when played with daddy) and her ideas of what moms say and do are so, so funny. I get to be the little girl and she always calls me "little girl" despite me trying to explain that mothers usually call their children by a name. "Little girl, its time to go to school." "Dont forget your lunchbox, little girl!" Im fairly certain that her parenting doesnt resemble mine at all, so Im not sure exactly where she gets her ideas from, but its very fun(ny) to watch her be a mom. It also makes me super excited to see her interact with the baby since she seems to have some odd ideas of how to care for babies too.

VII
Its been a little quiet around the blog and facebook page. Not on purpose, but I havent had much to say. All is going well and the further along I get, the more it feels like a "normal" pregnancy. My midwife appointments are every other week now and Im starting to think about the labor and birth. I still have a very hard time envisioning an actual baby in a few months time, but that doesnt seem to be out of the ordinary for any pregnant woman, regardless of whether shes had past losses or not. A new human being added to this world, to our family is a really hard concept to grasp.

And...its pretty amazing that I was able to come up with seven things to talk about so lets join Kelly, shall we?

post pregnancy weight loss regime

Now that school is in full swing (Tues - Thurs), we have been making an effort to have a friend day on Mondays and Fridays (sometimes this just means going to hang out at the Y, sometimes it means doing an activity, sometimes we do both).

On Monday we met up with some friends at the Chattanooga Aquarium. We had 8 kids with us, so we worked on a buddy system to keep track of the kids. They all did great. It didnt hurt that it was the middle of the week and not busy.

The oldest boy in our group, Patrick, buddied up with Jack. This worked well (for the most part). Jack kind of likes to do his own thing, but he also really likes hanging out with our friends older boys.

We only had time for one building, but we did catch the divers in the big tank. I think all of the kids with us were brave and each asked a question.

We had such a fun time, even if we only had 1.5 hours to play.

If you havent been to the Chattanooga Aquarium, I would definitely recommend it. We have a family pass this year and try to take advantage of it when we can.

zumba for post pregnancy weight loss

Today the Certificate of Stillbirth applications are available.  This was a long road for so many and I am happy for those who will be able to obtain one.  Sadly, it is not looking likely that I will.  Because I was not at that magical "20 week" mark, and only a mere 19 weeks 6 days, Solomon was not turned over to a funeral director for burial.  The application asks for this information.  Yet again my experience going through childbirth is not acknowledged.

Regardless, here are two sites you can obtain the information from:
http://www.danielsstar.org/03212012%20NYC%20instructions.html
http://www.angelnames.org/

Good luck.

after pregnancy weight loss tips | Baby Update 37 Weeks Just Live Your Life

Senin, 29 Februari 2016

after pregnancy weight loss tips

One of the things I like about my OB is that she advocates living your life to the best of your ability, regardless of what may be going on with your body. It was advice she gave me while I was waiting to miscarry and it is something she reminds me of when I express fears over the risks of this pregnancy.

As someone who likes to be in control, the reminder that I cant prevent things from happening any more than I can force things to happen, helps me with my day-to-day living.

 Baby #2, 37 Weeks

Comparison: 37 Weeks Pregnant with Jack

As far as my weekly appointment, things are still looking good. My amniotic fluid is back up to 25cm (which is back in the risk category). The ultrasound tech said that the fluid regenerates every 3 days and it seems like my fluid is just going to hover between 23cm and 27cm. Our baby is still head down, but has not dropped at all and I am dilated to 1cm (with Jack I never dilated until my water broke at 40 weeks). I am anxious to see how things progress in the coming weeks.

In terms of living my life, workouts at the Y keep me sane. I think some people are getting nervous that I continue to show up, while others are happy to see me, knowing that if I am there labor hasnt started yet. With Jack I did kickboxing the day I went into labor and I hope to be able to continue to workout up until the time this baby makes an appearance.

My most uncomfortable symptom right now is swelling. Im just glad it is warm enough to wear Chacos again – my feet are especially thankful. Second to the swelling is the fact that the babys feet are lodged up under my ribs. This can cause some significant pain when he/she starts moving around and kicking.

This week I also swapped to 2 Heparin shots a day. The girl at the pharmacy was appalled when she gave me my meds. She must not have been taught privacy rules because she asked all kinds of questions about the twice-a-day shots. Ill just be glad when I can stop giving myself shots.

I finally got into gear and packed a bag for myself and one for Jack, for a procrastinator like me that is a big deal. Now we just continue to wait.

weight loss rate after pregnancy | Life Lessons from Wilderness Trek

Minggu, 28 Februari 2016

weight loss rate after pregnancy

Twenty-three years ago I climbed Mt. Elbert in Colorado.

View from top of Mt. Elbert, summer 1992

Its kind of weird that I now have enough life experiences to state that something occurred twenty-plus years ago.

View of valley while hiking up Mt. Sherman, summer of 1994

Anyway, that particular trip was my first true backpacking experience, but certainly not the last. I have written about Wilderness Trek before, and it truly was one of the most influential experiences of my life.

Hiking up Mt. Sherman, summer of 1994

At the ripe age of twelve-and-a-half, I was exposed to grandeur beyond my comprehension and the principle that when life is difficult, it is always best to reach out and encourage, or help someone else.

Mt. Antero, summer of 1996

On Wilderness Trek every person carries not only their own essentials for a five-day trek into the wilderness, but also various items for the crew you are assigned to. Everyone is carrying weight beyond what you might think you can endure (35-50 lbs), and regardless of your fitness level, it is a tough trip. Obviously the more fit you are, the easier it is, but it isnt easy.

Rapelling on the Mt. Antero trip, summer 1996

The thing that made the experience of climbing a mountain more bearable (besides the amazing views) was to try to motivate someone else who was struggling to keep moving.

My sister, Angela, and I on the Mt. Antero trip, summer 1996

When I could dig down deep and encourage another to keep plodding along, one foot in front of the other, it allowed me to forget my own difficult journey. If I could take a moment to encourage others to look up from staring at the ground and breathe in the beauty that we were all enveloped in, it allowed me to take in the moment myself.

On the trail. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

Last week I was reminded of that principle. I was in a funk, in the midst of my very own pity party, focused on myself and some of my own frustrations. It was all I could think about as I drove to the Y for a midday pick-me-up.

On the trail. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

Working out helped to lift my spirits and clear my mind. I felt less alone as I let the endorphins take away my frustrations. But it was after my workout that I was reminded of this lesson from my youth.

Summit Day, Mt. Antero, summer 1996

As I spoke with a friend, I learned that another mom with a newborn was walking through a difficult valley right now. The cliff notes of the situation broke my heart and I felt ashamed of my pity party.

My sister on our "summit". We had to turn around before the actual
summit because a storm was moving in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

At that moment I shifted gears because I really believe that when we slow down, and move our focus from ourselves to how we can support others, it changes us for the better. It makes us better humans.

The girls on our "summit" as a storm moved in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

I learned so much from Wilderness Trek, and even 23 years later I find that I am still applying those lessons to my life.

Angela and I on our "summit" as a storm moved in. Mt. Antero, summer 1996

This is just one of the many lessons and experiences I had on Wilderness Trek. Those trips had a profound impact on me and I hope that someday my boys can have similar experiences.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2
Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Philippians 2:4
...You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.
Luke 10:27
