baby weight loss 4 months

A friend of mine sends her son to a Forest Kindergarten (for preschoolers) here in Chattanooga. I love this concept and that one of their governing rules is that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices.

Anyways, the kindergarten is located in Lookout Valley which is a little too far of a drive for me to commit to, but I found that I kept turning the concept over in my mind. We want our boys to love the outdoors and I think that so much learning and imagination happens when you are not hindered by toys – we love toys and electronics, but we also want natural landscapes to play a part in our kids upbringing.

So, I came up with this idea that there was no reason we couldnt try to spend a little bit of every day (regardless of the weather) outside. We live on an acre of wooded land that features rocky outcroppings; the playground across the street has woods with trails; we live one street over from a natural area with two additional miles of trails; and Signal Mountain and the greater Chattanooga area boasts tons of things to do outside. We can do this!

I mentioned my plan to Daniel and then we set out to make it happen.

The month of January was a tricky one. Temperatures ranged from the teens (in the south, that is cold!) to days in the 60s. There was rain and fog and sleet and snow. But there were also days with plenty of sunshine.

Did we succeed? Truth be told we did not get outside every day, but 22 days out of 31 we managed to spend at least an hour outside.

We went on hikes as a family to Sunset Rock and Mushroom Rock. We played in the snow. We discovered secret forts. We played on playgrounds with friends. We went on neighborhood walks and bike rides. And Jack spent a lot of time with his daddy playing on our property.

Isaac did not spent quite as many days outside, but at least half of the month we had him outdoors with us.

Both of our boys developed eczema on their hands from the cold, so we are trying to balance healing their hands with our desire for outdoor play. This goal of mine is a fluid one, but I hope that we will continue to get outside as much as we can this year.

And on the days we cant get out, we will look out our windows and dream of warmer days.

pregnancy losing weight third trimester | Baby Update 38 Weeks Homestretch

Selasa, 29 Maret 2016

pregnancy losing weight third trimester

At my weekly ultrasound and OB visit I learned that Baby#2 is currently measuring 7lbs 1oz (give or take half a pound) and has a large head. In addition, my amniotic fluid is 24cm this week (last week it was 25cm). The biggest concern right now is the babys size, specifically the head. Jack had a big head and my OB had to use a vacuum to help deliver him. If this babys head is already bigger, well, we dont want to wait too long to deliver.

The current plan is that we are going to induce on the babys due date (April 18) but if I go into labor naturally, then that is all the better. It is kind of surreal to know that, at the most, we only have about 2 weeks before we meet Baby#2. Considering I have had continual Braxton Hicks since the 20 week mark Im not sure what real contractions are going to feel like. My OB says that I will know. I hope so. I am currently 1.5cm dilated and 70% effaced, but it can take awhile to get to 4cm and there is no telling how long that will take. Im praying that labor starts on its own before the due date rolls around. Jack came on a full moon, so maybe we will get lucky again?

My blood pressure continues to be low and swelling in my feet and legs, while existent, isnt too terrible. My twice-a-day Heparin shots leave painful welts under my skin which makes me more than ready to be done with this pregnancy. At the same time it is kind of hard to wrap my mind around the fact that a newborn will be here soon.

Daniel has been working long hours to wrap up some things before baby arrives, so we have been trying our best to make sure both of us spend as much quality time with Jack as we can. I know things are going to change and I want him to still feel like he is important. Thankfully the weather has been nice so we are spending lots of time at the playground.

Every night Jack prays the following prayer:
Dear God,
Thank your for this day.
Thank you for Mommys baby, Jacks baby, and Daddys baby.
Thank you for my friends.
Amen.

The best pregnancy comment from a stranger goes to the girl working the Dunkin Donuts drive through the other day: "Oh girl, you are glowing!" I was expecting the more typical, "Youre huge!" or "Are you past your due date?" comments. This sweet girls comment made my day.

Some friends and I were recently sharing our labor stories, which progressed to thinking about our "last" meals before labor and our "first" meal after delivery. This morphed into planning my last meal before I go to the hospital... got to make it a good one. With Jack we were grilling steaks when my water broke and Im pretty sure my first post-baby meal was a piece of banana bread and a latte from Starbucks. Speaking of food, I feel famished all the time these days.

Comparison: 38 Weeks Pregnant with Jack

Overall speculation on gender continues to be girl, with a few holdouts for boy. Overall this has been a more difficult pregnancy, but in both pregnancies I have only gained weight in my belly, but that could be due to working out. I guess we will find out soon enough – I still dont have a clue!

pregnancy drug used for weight loss

One of the blogs I follow is The Big Outside. I like like to day dream about the big adventures we will take in a few years.

The other day Jack was sitting next to me while I scrolled through my blog list and the post on The Big Outside called 20 Big Adventures in Pictures came up.

Jack immediately asked if we could go hike here:

As in he wanted to go hike there right now.

I cant tell you how pumped I am that at age 3 Jack recognizes the amazing beauty of the Tetons. Some day little guy, some day.

He was also curious about this picture of the bloggers daughter cross country skiing. Can we do that, mommy?

One day, buddy.

pregnancy weight loss meal plan | LARABAR GIVEAWAY Eat Healthy Get Outside

pregnancy weight loss meal plan

As we draw closer to the end of the year and towards the holidays and cold weather where we just want to bundle up and stay inside, I'm reminded that I don't want to slack off now and lose the fitness level that I worked so hard to achieve earlier this year.  It's so hard to get in shape, but so easy to get out of shape! I'm definitely going to enjoy myself and won't be sticking to a rigid routine these next couple months, but I plan to continue to exercise and eat healthy because I want to take care of myself and feel good.  As part of my daily meals, I typically eat a LÄRABAR each afternoon as that's about the time I'm hungry and heading out the door to get my son from school.  I'm never without them, because my son likes them too (as picky as he is), so there is always a LÄRABAR in my purse, gym bag, or car.  Do you do that too?  If you've ever been out and about, starving and grouchy, with equally grouchy and starving kids, you probably do.

November 17 is National Take a Hike Day and if you need a bit of fuel before or after your walk, a LÄRABAR is the perfect thing for you.  I love that LÄRABAR is actually made by a real woman named Lara, who, in 2000, found herself hungry after a hike and created a natural food full of wholesome ingredients like fruit and nuts to give her a tasty healthy snack to fuel her active lifestyle.  Lara has a passion for natural foods (each LÄRABAR has no more than 9 ingredients, is gluten-free, non GMO, kosher, and most of the products are soy-free, dairy free and vegan).  There are so many flavors to choose from.  I'm a big fan of the chocolate and peanut butter flavors, but I know other people who prefer the fruity ones.

after pregnancy weight loss tips | Baby Update 37 Weeks Just Live Your Life

after pregnancy weight loss tips

One of the things I like about my OB is that she advocates living your life to the best of your ability, regardless of what may be going on with your body. It was advice she gave me while I was waiting to miscarry and it is something she reminds me of when I express fears over the risks of this pregnancy.

As someone who likes to be in control, the reminder that I cant prevent things from happening any more than I can force things to happen, helps me with my day-to-day living.

 Baby #2, 37 Weeks

Comparison: 37 Weeks Pregnant with Jack

As far as my weekly appointment, things are still looking good. My amniotic fluid is back up to 25cm (which is back in the risk category). The ultrasound tech said that the fluid regenerates every 3 days and it seems like my fluid is just going to hover between 23cm and 27cm. Our baby is still head down, but has not dropped at all and I am dilated to 1cm (with Jack I never dilated until my water broke at 40 weeks). I am anxious to see how things progress in the coming weeks.

In terms of living my life, workouts at the Y keep me sane. I think some people are getting nervous that I continue to show up, while others are happy to see me, knowing that if I am there labor hasnt started yet. With Jack I did kickboxing the day I went into labor and I hope to be able to continue to workout up until the time this baby makes an appearance.

My most uncomfortable symptom right now is swelling. Im just glad it is warm enough to wear Chacos again – my feet are especially thankful. Second to the swelling is the fact that the babys feet are lodged up under my ribs. This can cause some significant pain when he/she starts moving around and kicking.

This week I also swapped to 2 Heparin shots a day. The girl at the pharmacy was appalled when she gave me my meds. She must not have been taught privacy rules because she asked all kinds of questions about the twice-a-day shots. Ill just be glad when I can stop giving myself shots.

I finally got into gear and packed a bag for myself and one for Jack, for a procrastinator like me that is a big deal. Now we just continue to wait.

after pregnancy weight loss meal plan | Freelance Mama

after pregnancy weight loss meal plan

On occasion I talk about freelancing and even use the hashtag freelance mama on Instagram, but I recently realized that a) not everyone knows what that means, and b) sometimes my parents are curious about my work. So I have decided to use this little space to periodically update about projects I am working on.

In the graphic design world (especially if you freelance part time) it is really feast or famine. Meaning I am either working crazy hours (while juggling my mommy responsibilities), or I am in a lull and enjoying the calm before the next storm.

I have been really bad about updating my portfolio in recent years, so maybe this will become an extension of that. At the very least, I will be able to look back and see what I was doing at this phase of my life.

Right now I am in a slower phase (which is a blessing since Daniel has been working nights for the last 14 days). Here is a glimpse of some of the projects I have been working on.

This is a textbook I am working on for Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC. It is the biggest project I have taken on to date. A big part of this project, besides designing the 300+pages, is keeping everyone on track so that I get content in a timely manner. Managing the proofing process is also lots of fun. We are about halfway through this year-long project right now. May is the target print date.

This is an Annual Report I am in the process of wrapping up for The Crossnore School in Crossnore, NC. The Crossnore School is non-profit residential foster care home for children in crisis. This is the third year I have created their Annual Report.

An example from a recent ad campaign for The Crossnore School. Once concepts are approved, the ads are sent to various publications throughout the region and run for several months before we move on to the next campaign.

Ad created for Ascend Federal Credit Union, located in Tullahoma, TN. Ascend is a client that I take on overflow work for throughout the year.

Logo designed for the blog Stroll Through the South, located in Huntsville, AL.

As you can see, right now my projects vary from very corporate to smaller, local businesses. Last month I also wrapped up a catalog for a media company located in Chattanooga, TN as well as sold a personal design for a sign project. In the freelance world, you never know what you will have on your plate.
