baby weight loss first week | My Favorite All Natural Peanut Butter

Sabtu, 16 April 2016

baby weight loss first week

All my life I was a JIF peanut butter girl.  I bought the low-fat kind and ate it by the jarful.  I love peanut butter on almost everything- apples, celery, PB&J, chocolate, even on my pancakes.

A couple years ago, in an effort to eat less processed food, I switched to all natural peanut butter.  Ive tried all kinds of brands and even almond butter and keep coming back to my all-time favorite, Laura Scudders, because it tastes so good.  You do have to stir it some, but oil separation is normal in all-natural peanut butter.  Im currently loving the nutty one, but they also make it in smooth.  I can find it at my local grocery store.

So good on protein pancakes!  I recently tweaked that recipe- I now add a little milk to the batter too- it makes them less dense.

Are you eating all-natural peanut butter?  What brand do you like?

weight loss end pregnancy | Ahi Tuna Salad

Rabu, 13 April 2016

weight loss end pregnancy

One of my favorite starters to order at a restaurant, aside from the cheese plate, is the tuna tartare.  To satisfy the craving at home, I make something similar once in awhile.  This recipe does call for a couple of unique ingredients you may not necessarily have on hand, but you can pick them up at most grocery stores.

Ingredients
  • Ahi tuna
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Scallions
  • Spicy mayo (I get it from the sushi counter at my store- its about $1.00 for a small cup)
  • Wasabi paste- comes in a tube
  • Black sesame seeds
I sear the tuna in a skillet over medium high heat for about two minutes per side and them remove and let rest while I dice the tomato and avocado.  Add in a bit of chopped scallion, the spicy mayo and wasabi paste to taste and sprinkle with the black sesame seeds.

Are you into sushi or not so much?  I know people love it or hate it.  Im definitely in the love category!

post pregnancy weight loss foods | Quick Morning Oatmeal

Kamis, 31 Maret 2016

post pregnancy weight loss foods

Busy mornings are typical in most families and ours is no exception.  Im a coffee-first-thing-in-the-morning kind of gal, but I also never go without breakfast.  A super quick and healthy breakfast is oatmeal.  Some mornings go so fast, I put my oatmeal in a cup and eat it in the car- shhhh!

My oatmeal is simple, just oats, sliced almonds, raisins, cinnamon, and topped with a little skim milk.

I toast the almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes to make them more flavorful and crunchy.  Watch them closely though- they can burn easily.

Then I combine all the ingredients in a large canister and give it a good shake.

I keep a plastic scoop in the canister for easy scooping.

And the whole mixture sits on the counter next to my coffee.

You can also portion the dry oatmeal mix into 5 small plastic baggies and take them to work to eat in the office in the morning if you dont want to eat in the car!

I add water, microwave for one minute, then add a little milk.
Whats your quick go-to breakfast?  I also like toast and natural peanut butter.

baby weight loss first days | Workout Binder Workouts Post 12 Week Program

Senin, 14 Maret 2016

baby weight loss first days

Now that Ive completed the Jamie Eason 12-Week Training Program, I needed to figure out what to do next.  The last couple of weeks I slacked off on my workouts, so time to get back to it!  I want to continue the strength training (especially on my legs/glutes) and picked a few of my favorite workouts from the Jamie Eason program and will continue to do those to build muscle.  I think they are all from Week 7 of the program.  Im also looking forward to trying the spin classes at my gym, and now that the weather is warming up here, Im going to start jogging outside again.

I went ahead and printed the workouts (Arms, Back, Shoulders, and two Leg workouts), wrote in the weight I typically lift for easy reference, them laminated them so I can use them while I work out.  I could commit them to memory, but this is easy and mindless so I dont have to think about what comes next.

I have printed out all of the workouts from the 12-week program and keep them in a binder, along with my measurements so I can track my progress.  The binder is just an inexpensive 1-inch white three-ring binder with a plastic cover, so I inserted something to motivate me on the front.

I love the shot of this strong woman climber and the quote that accompanies it.

And on the back, I included a shot of a muscular and feminine physique I admire.  That booty- dang!

Those pages are from Oxygen magazine.  The binder lives in my workout bag along with my mini i-Pod, workout gloves, and water bottle.

How do you keep track of your workouts?

baby weight loss after birth | Thai Steak Salad with Peanut Sauce

Rabu, 02 Maret 2016

baby weight loss after birth

Im so happy to share a recipe featuring steak!!!  And this is a really good cut of meat, specifically, beef tenderloin.  I havent had one of those in ages and I didnt want to mess up the cooking, so my husband cooked that part of this Thai Steak Salad for me.  He got it just right too!

Because this meal is a salad, all you have to do is prepare the marinade, and then be patient while the meat marinates at least four hours, or up to overnight.  Its easy to throw the cold salad ingredients together, then I take a short-cut and top the salad with my store-bought peanut dressing!

INGREDIENTS
(ingredient portions depend on how many people you are feeding and what you like in your salad).

Beef tenderloin or flank steak- 1 pound
Romaine lettuce
Cabbage
Tomato
Red onion
Avocado
Mango
Cashews (optional)
Sesame seeds (optional)
Basil and/or cilantro (optional)
*Bangkok Padang Peanut Sauce (or other peanut sauce)

MARINADE

Juice of 1 lime
Low sodium soy sauce- 3 tablespoons
Canola oil- 3 tablespoons
Brown sugar- 2 tablespoons
Minced garlic- 1 tablespoon
Red curry paste- 1 teaspoon

To make the marinate, combine the above ingredients into a large plastic ziploc bag.

Pat the meat dry with paper towels and add to the bag with the marinade.  Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.  I did 4 hours and it was great.

To cook the steak, spray a grill pan with cooking spray and heat pan to medium-high heat.  Cook for about five minutes per side until medium rare, or longer for more doneness.  Let rest until room temperature and then slice thinly.

Assemble the salads by adding the romaine, cabbage, onion, avocado, and mango.  You can also add fresh herbs and cashes if desired.

I love this peanut sauce, but its a little spicy, so I pour it into a bowl and thin it with a bit of water and add lime juice to it.  It you like some kick, its great on its own.

This salad is so good!  Especially when you mix everything up and all the flavors meld together.

Im sure this will be in our dinner rotation again in the near future!

Sabtu, 27 Februari 2016

after pregnancy weight loss calculator

With Valentines Day approaching, we might be looking forward to indulging in our favorite sweet treats.  For me, chocolate tops the list.  Pairing chocolate with peanut butter is even better! One of my favorite treats is homemade peanut butter cups, but they are a little time consuming to prepare and high in calories and sugar.  If you are looking for something with chocolate and peanut butter to satisfy your sweet tooth, you may want to try these . . . Peanut Butter Brownie Bliss.

Yumminess!

Since I feel like Valentines Day should be shared among friends as well as honeys, I gave a few of mine this simple treat.  Dressed up in cute packaging makes it even cuter.

I used a paper mache hexagon boxand filled it with crinkle cut paperand foam heart stickers.

Then, I affixed a doily and glittery red heart to the top of the box with spray adhesive.

And decorated the rim of the box with washi tape.

Everyone loved them and couldnt even tell they are made by . . .  Weight Watchers!  Cool, huh?!  I thought you might want to hear of some "desserty" things you dont have to feel guilty eating once in a awhile!  They have other flavors too if you want to try something else.

Each box comes with 6 individually wrapped mini brownies.  They are 2 WW points per brownie, 90 calories, 4 fat grams, and 9 grams of sugar.

Whats your favorite Valentines Day treat?

Thank you to Weight Watchers for sending me these yummy desserts!
