intentional weight loss during pregnancy | Pregnancy Journeys After Loss

intentional weight loss during pregnancy

Hi!
Just starting this whole blog thing, not sure how good Ill be at it. I lost my son Solomon to pprom resulting in his stillbirth on March 8, 2000. I had a myriad of physical and mental healing to do. The physical was easier. We got pregnancy again 4 months later and we lost that to blighted ovum. Two month after that, pregnancy #3. I held my breath, pretended to be happy and endured mental hell for 9 months until Alison was born at 38 weeks. A big beautiful 8 pounds 2 ounce bundle. Oops, 11 months later we are pregnant again. Adam was born 19-1/2 months after Alison. A physically wonderful pregnancy until *boom* preterm labor and 11 weeks of terbutaline and bedrest. Two cerclages, two c-sections.

Now I speak at pregnancy loss groups, pregnancy after loss groups, have been involved in program planning for the First Candle/SIDS Alliance and International Stillbirth Alliance conference in DC in September 2005. And I wrote and edited a book, "Journeys: Stories of Pregnancy After Loss." A compilation by 11 authors of loss stories coupled with pregnancy after loss stories. Hopefully it will be a comfort to those finding themselves *SPALS*

Warmly,
Amy

weight loss during pregnancy miscarriage | Future Past

weight loss during pregnancy miscarriage

The single, "Future / Past"  came out on iTunes today and I have been listening to it all morning. We love the McMillan family so much and are so blessed to be a part of the most amazing community with them here in Charlotte. John Mark is an incredible songwriter and brings so much authenticity, raw beauty and true honesty to his music. You can download "Future / Past" on iTunes HERE. Watch the music video down below, as well! You might see a familiar girl in a black hat in there somewhere. ;) The night this was filmed, probably was one of my favorites ever. Hours of genuine love, surrounded by friends, singing our guts out, laughing, pure joy, worship and  community. Guys, I actually got blisters and I didnt step out from my tiny 3 ft circle of space. These lyrics move me to my core. I tear up when I sing them and find hope as I  turn them over again and again in my heart. I hope your hearts are lifted this morning in joy and hope. Enjoy!

The full album "Borderland" will be released 3.4.14 mark your calendars!  Ah, cant wait!

(the night "future / past" was filmed. best night ever!)

weight loss during pregnancy is it safe

At a family affair this weekend, I felt that "ping." I was missing Solomon. I really didnt have him in my front-brain but at Temple when reading Kaddish and at the party later, when I saw my two spals kids dancing and having fun, I felt he was missing.

baby weight loss after birth calculation | Whats Next The Post Bikini Competition Plan

baby weight loss after birth calculation

A surprising thing about post-competition is that Im not all that anxious to eat all of the food thats been off limits during contest prep.  Youd think Id want to eat everything in sight, but that hasnt been the case.  In fact, the thought of a big, juicy cheeseburger and fries (something I love to indulge in once in a while before) doesnt really sound good to me right now.  I think it feels so good having worked so hard to get in shape, I dont want to "blow it" by eating bad.  It doesnt feel worth it.

FOOD

The night the competition ended, we found a nice steak restaurant that was open and ate a late dinner there.  I had baked brie (a favorite of mine!) with dry toasts, filet minion, twice baked potato and iced-tea.  I only finished half of the steak and potatoes and I really wasnt ready for any alcohol.  The next morning, I indulged in Starbucks banana bread for breakfast before we got on the road to come home.

After driving nearly four hours home, we stopped at Chipotle for lunch and I always get a bowl with rice, chicken and pico.  Back at home, I got back on my regular (contest prep) meals with the exception of the ice cream I had been craving.  I wanted Gelato (it has less fat) but they were out the kind I like (Sea Salt Caramel), so I got regular Carmel Cone ice cream.  I ate the whole pint.  It was GOOD going down!

But, of course, my stomach really hurt the next morning.  Thankfully, my abs were still there! :)  Although a cheeseburger doesnt sound good, I could keep eating ice-cream every once in a while (just not a whole pint in one sitting!).

My trainer texted me the next morning telling me I should get back to Phase 1 of my diet.  And its crazy that I was actually looking forward to it!  I really like my protein pancakes with all-natural fruit spread.  Meal 2 is usually fish, potato, and green beans.  Meal 3 is a grilled chicken salad with fat free dressing.  Meal 4 is chicken, potato or rice, and veggies.  Meal 5 is a cup or so of Muscle Egg.  Sometimes, Ill eat another pancake too in between Meal 4 and 5.  I typically eat at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm.

On Tuesday night, my girlfriend invited me out for a drink and I went, but ordered tea. Wednesday night, I went to dinner with two friends at a new restaurant and I was excited to have something different.  I ate tuna tartare and a mini steak skewer.

At the weekend blog conference I went to, I ate as best I could (even brought and drank 3 protein shakes while I was there).  We were fortunate that the conference had a fresh, healthy salad bar selection with fish and chicken.

BUT, I did indulge in THREE small desserts on Saturday (chocolate popsicle, shared milkshake at dinner, and scoop of ice cream at the late-night party).  Back at home on Sunday, I was back to my meals- and ready to be!

I do want to find new healthy meals that I can feel good about eating that are different from my usual.  Its just nice to have a little variety.  And Im sure my husband would appreciate it too.

WORKOUTS

As for the workouts, my trainer recommended that I do only 30 minutes of cardio and no weights for about a week to give my body a rest and just recoup from the competition.  Whats crazy is that just doing 30 minutes of cardio now feels very minimal.  I havent even bothered to go to the gym for it (it would take longer to drive there and back) opting instead to just run out my door around my neighborhood with my iPod.

I had a great run on my trip out of town too.  I knew Id want to run at least one day, so I packed running clothes and my iPod.  Right outside our hotel was a beautiful bike trail filled with tall, lush trees.  I even found the cutest Startbucks ever and popped in after my run for an oatmeal and black iced-tea.  It felt so good to start the day this way.

Before I started training for this contest, if youd have told me Id be doing 30-45 minutes of cardio 4-5 times a week in addition to my one hour workout, Id think you were crazy.  I didnt think I was physically capable of doing that, but my body surprised me.  Yours can too.

via

Im not training with my trainer right now, opting to spend more time with my son and just workout at the gym thats closer to my house.  When my son goes back to school, Ill reconsider.  I got spoiled training with him - not because its any easier - in fact its physically harder.  But, he kept me accountable and pushed me to my limit.  I just did what he said.  I didnt have to think about whats next, what exercise to do, what weight to lift, how many reps.  So many times Id say to him, "Id never workout this hard on my own."

I know his routine pretty well now though.  We would do 3 exercises in a row, not too heavy, but a weight I could get 15-20 reps.  One of the exercises might be something without weights, just to keep my heart rate up, like Burpees. Wed do the round 3-4 times, then start again with 3 different exercises.  We did this for one hour, sometimes stopping with 10 minutes to spare so I could finish with abs.

It will be interesting to see if I can keep it up on my own.  Im going to try!

weight loss during pregnancy nhs

Today, we are going on a road trip to visit dearest friends, in the next state over. Im so excited for this mini get away with my guys and kindred spirits.  Kaels Uncle Jason is taking Sam and Kael to our boys first baseball game and I get to meet one of my best friends babies for the very first time! Ah! Lots of laughter and filled hearts are in order for us, the next few days. Ive got the happy, early morning buzz of having packed bags and comfy clothes, ready for hours in the car.

What are your tricks and methods of keeping your wee ones happy for long rides in the car?

Peace to your heart

Jess

PS
Today is also a day that my heart is overwhelmed with an intense desire and need to pray, love and comfort. A best friend of mine will be at the doctors today with her little girl, Sparrow. Many of you have been following along her journey, since she was born with a major heart defect and has undergone 2 open heart surgeries the last 2 years. Well, today they will give her mom, Jessie the date for her last and final surgery sometime this month, which is Sparrows birthday month. She will be 3. If you have a moment, please pray for and send peace and love her way today. I love this girl as if she were my own and the reality that the most perfect little bird, bursting with personality and soul, has to go through this once more is more overwhelming than I can describe. You can read about Sparrows journey HERE on Jessies blog. I know she would love any and all encouragement this month.

baby losing weight in nicu | Beach Get Up

Jumat, 11 Maret 2016

baby losing weight in nicu

T-shirt is a basic v-neck from urban outfitters, necklace: mala  beads from tiny devotions .
When Im home during the summer, I like to feel like Im at the beach. So, a lot of times Ill spend my days in my would be beach get up. Bikini, cut offs, loose cropped tee...and yes I have a candle that smells like salt water, sand and sunscreen. It holds me over until my feet sink deep into the gulfs shoreline.

I love fringe and I love free flowing garments that move with my everyday. So, when one of Samuels t-shirts got ruined in the wash, 10 minutes with a pair of scissors and a bit of bleach, saved it from the trash bin. Now, its one of my favorite go-tos for casual summer days.

I simply cut a bit of the neck, then the sleeves, just past the seam and then, I fringed the bottom hem line to my desired length.  I put a cup of bleach in the sink and dipped away. I was really happy with how it turned out. So much so that I might have raided Samuels old t-shirt drawer. You know, those old shirts that guys refuse to get rid of? ;) Hello new gems of my summer wardrobe.

Have you tried anything like this yet? There are a ton of tutorials on pinterest that I just havent taken the time to actually do them (yet). Any success stories or pictures?

Happy Summer days to you.

Jess
